Legislation - Do you comply?
Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 which incorporates The Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations 1992, a statutory legal duty is placed on all Employers to ensure that employees and all others are not subjected to risks to their health and safety. In particular , The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires those in control of part or all of an electrical system to ensure that the system is safe to use and it is maintained in a safe condition.How can we comply with this? Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
Formerly known as a Periodic Inspection Report, (PIR) an Electrical Condition Report will give you a full assessment as to the condition of your electrical installation.  An electrical condition report should:
Reveal overloaded circuits
Find any potential risk of fire or electric shock
Identify any defective electrical work
Highlight inadequate earthing

How often should an Electrical Installation Condition Report be undertaken?
Inspection and Testing should be undertaken as follows:

Domestic Properties - 10 years

Commercial & Industrial Premises - 5 years

Caravans - 3 years

Swimming Pools - 1 year
